Tracy has a fun new kit out today called Enchanted. The colors are great and there are such cute elements – fairies, a castle, a frog and some great butterflies.

Here is my layout – my niece feeding my oldest son. Luckily I had this fun picture with pink since I love using pink in my layouts – which I rarely get to do with two boys.

10-10-10 at DSDI and a Speed Scrap

Today kicks off the 10-10-10 event at DSDI. To kick off the holiday season and to wrap up 2010 they are having a 10-10-10 event. It runs from today through December 10th – so it will be over before you get too busy with holiday stuff. Every day there will be a different challenge having to do with a list of 10 things – 10 favorite memories, the top 10 current events, your 10 best pictures – you get the idea. The first one is to scrap what you consider to be your 10 Best Songs of 2010; it doesn’t have to be songs released in 2010, just songs you enjoyed in 2010. Hopefully I can think of a few that aren’t kid’s songs but, sadly, most of them will probably be from Snacktime by the Barenaked Ladies! What a fun way to wrap up 2010 - with a set of pages that reflect what was going on this year. And there are prizes!

There is also a speed scrap tomorrow, December 2 at 9pm EST, with a kit as a participation prize.

Black Friday "Retail Therapy" Blog Train

I'm glad you joined me on this Thanksgiving Day here in the US. For others it's just a normal workday but for me it's a day to enjoy our extended family and relax while eating way too much. It's also a day to plan my crazy shopping for Black Friday. I'm not one that *has* to be at a certain place at a certain time on Black Friday. I can usually find a few things I'd like to have and if they are still around when I get there, I'll pick them up. It's more a fun time with my bff and a break from the boys. In the shopping vein then, here is a quick page made from the great DSDI collab Retail Therapy. There is a coupon included in the download good towards the purchase of this kit so be sure to keep your eye out for that! I absolutely love this kit - the colors rock and the elements are so much fun!

Scrappers Give Thanks

There’s a fun campaign going on called Scrappers Give Thanks where scrappers are making cards that will be printed out and given to kids in hospitals. Fun huh? I went the silly joke route and here's what I came up with.

Okay, so I didn’t actually check that all the kits I used were S4H friendly. I’m just going with the assumption that the designers will be okay with me using their kits to make cards for kids in hospitals since I’m not making any money or anything. (please, please, please)

I used Scrappy Cocoa’s kit Under-Dogs for this first one.

I used Feeling Hungry by Wimpychompers for this one.

I used this cute kit by Mlle Heloise but she appears to be gone from digital scrapping so no luck for you if you like it!

I used Scrap to School a DSDI collab kit for this card. I’m an accountant so I especially like this one.

I used a freebie kit from Giggly Polka Dots called Ahoy Matey.

Well, that’s it. It was fun reading silly jokes though – I highly recommend it for a trip back down memory lane.

Digi Scraps Drive-in has a new daily download and it is just awesome! It's called Falling in Love and it is by Cjoy2Day Designs and Daphadilly Art. It technically started yesterday but you can get part 1 through today as well as part 2. Head to the Drive-by Freebies thread and pick it up!

Trick or Treat

Mad Genius Designs has a Halloween kit in the stores this week called Trick or Treat. It is a fun kit with awesome and unique elements. I love the moon and the tree the most.

September DSDI Template Challenge

It is already September – so hard to believe. And my oldest son starts 3 day a week preschool today. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with that – he’ll be fine but maybe not me. Just a precursor to Kindergarten though so maybe this baby step is a good way to go. Anyway, on to the challenge. I chose another paper layout for the challenge. I was inspired to pick this one by some “big picture” templates I saw recently. Here is my original layout – it was a matching two pager with the ultrasound as one side and journaling about when we found out I was pregnant and how we told people. Sorry the picture is so random but I took individual pictures of each side and the ultrasound side is totally blurry. I figured you could get the gist of it from this one.

Here’s the layout I did – I used Guy Time by JanetB Designs. This is the mister and J2 – he was almost two weeks old here.

DSDI Blog Hop Freebie - Celebrate This!

It's been a year since the Grand Opening of Digi Scraps Drive-In. It has been quite an amazing year and it is most definitely time to celebrate!

First up in our month-long Birthday Bash, we are hosting a Progressive Blog Hop Challenge. Here is how it works:

Follow our Progressive Blog Hop, picking up each mini along the way.
Create a layout using at least one piece from each mini (more if you wish)
Upload your LO to our Birthday Bash gallery, and link it back to the Progressive Blog Hop Challenge thread.

The prize for the challenge is a loot bag that coordinates with the blog hop minis.

Great news – the DSDI daily download starts tomorrow! The kit is awesome so make sure you stop by the forum every day to pick up a part. Here is the sneak preview – aren’t the colors fun and summery?

I made a layout with it too – this is J2 at the Children’s Museum. The Children’s Museum has so many cool things to do and look at and both of my boys wanted to spend all their time in this room! They barely looked at anything else.

Also, there are a few more days to learn some stuff at Scrapbook School so check it out – there are some really great tutorials!

Timeless and Timeless Modern

JanetB Designs has done it again! She makes the most beautiful kits and this pair are no exception. The first one, Timeless, is full of soft, neutral colors with small pops of color. The flowered papers are great and the flowers are lovely.

This is my mom and dad on their wedding day – the crop and angle were not my doing but I do love it!

The next kit is sort of a companion kit called Timeless Modern. They go together perfectly but this one definitely adds a modern twist.

This is me and the mister on top of the cruise ship in Hawaii. For the photo, I used a technique Melly of Melly Scraps taught us in a speed scrap. You take a photo, and a copy of the photo, layer them on top of each other and make the top one either black & white or sepia. Change the opacity of the top photo to suit you. I like this because it leaves some of the colors but still gives it a sepia look.

The DSDI daily download starts on Thursday the 19th and I’ll have a layout for you tomorrow so you get a special sort of sneak peek. It is a fabulous kit so you’ll definitely want to mark your calendars so you don’t miss a day!

Space Cowboy

Isn’t that just a fun name? Melly Scraps has an awesome new kit that I just *had* to have. It’s called Space Cowboy and is perfect for all your Buzz and Woody layouts. And believe me, I have a lot of pictures. Check it out. There are distinct elements for space and cowboy but the whole kit works together great. I love the variety of papers and don’t you love those cacti?

It also comes with this great alpha set but you can purchase it separately if you like.

Toy Story was a favorite of J1’s (until Star Wars took over) so we have some great pictures that I was excited to get to scrap. First my cowboy one. J1 was actually supposed to be a pirate this year. J2 was only 5 months old and I found the *cutest* pirate costume for him so I picked one up for J1 as well – so they would match. Well, J1 *refused* to put on the pirate costume – would not try it on even once! Luckily my BFF had passed these chaps, vest, hat and bandana on to us and it was in the attic. It was a bit big but he was pleased to wear it so there you go.

Last year he was Buzz. He picked it out and we got it cheap off eBay so we were all happy. Incidentally, J2 was a skeleton since that was J1’s costume from a couple years back, so again, no matching. This year J1 wants to be Anakin (no surprise there) so I am thinking some sort of fab Star Wars costume is in order for J2 as well. I found a super cute R2D2 costume and in the Clone Wars cartoon, Anakin and R2D2 are great pals so maybe…

Seaside Serenity – AKA We Love the Beach!

AnDi Designs has this wonderful new kit called Seaside Serenity. I chose this kit because the mister and I have been going to Lincoln City on the Oregon Coast every year since we met. Aren’t the colors perfect for all your beach photos? And I just love the sparkle and the fish! Make sure to check out the rest of her store while there. I have my eye on quite a few!

I did the layout with pictures of one of our trips – when J1 was just a baby. We started out going in March for the weekend – my boss liked us to take one weekend off in March just to refresh during tax season and prepare for the final push. Later we started going in September for our anniversary. The mister has a friend who owns a house on a lake in Lincoln City and they let us stay there for free – and they are dog friendly so when we had Sitka she could come too. My MIL has a timeshare, also in Lincoln City and coincidentally, usually the same time we are there. This works out wonderfully as she is right on the beach and will also watch the boys so we can go to out to a nice dinner for our anniversary. A lot of times the mister’s sisters also come for the weekend so we get to see them too. Anyway, here is my layout:

Yay, school is in session at DSDI tonight and the lineup of tutorials and challenges looks great! I think I am most looking forward to doing some things in PSE that I haven’t done – which for me is pretty much everything since I mostly scrap in Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus! DSDI is having a fun event in a week called Scrapbook School – you can read more about it here. There will be a bunch of tutorials hosted by the great Pink Ladies and after each there will be a challenge. If you used this fabulous kit called Scrap to School to complete the challenges you can even win prizes! I love prizes and I love this kit. The colors are the best (I am a sucker for anything red) and I love the old fashioned school elements. What fun layouts wait to be made with this one! Flea Market Finds

C.W. Picket & Co. has a new (well newly revamped) kit called Flea Market Finds. It was the first kit she made – two years ago – so she updated it and released it again. I sure am glad she did since it is so awesome! The colors are so great and I love the patterns and the cool and unique elements.

This my niece and I think the kit just made the picture better. I also used a template from DigiDesigns by Denise called On the Grid.

My Heart Shines Word Art Freebie

I made some layouts with the wonderful kit My Heart Shines by Mad Genius Designs. I love a kit with red and this one is no exception. Plus, there is glitter, swirls and hearts – guaranteed to make me swoon! Make sure to go pick this kit up – good for Valentines Day, weddings, engagement photos and even cute pictures of little girls!

Look at the lovely layouts I made with it – it even works for boy layouts! This was done for the Cover Tunes (scraplift) challenge at DSDI – you still have a couple of days so go make one yourself.

I did this for the Spice it Up challenge – we were supposed to use a photo mask and this one comes in the kit.

Lilac Magic

Growing Pains Scrapped has a new fun kit called Lilac Magic. In the middle of preparing for her new baby she was able to finish this kit – that’s impressive! The purples and greens of this kit make it perfect for either a boy or girl layout since there is a good balance of each. It has a great mix of papers, lots of patterns and solids plus a great cardstock set.

Afternoon Delight

I got to use this awesome new kit called Afternoon Delight. It is a collab between Daphadilly Art and Marshmella Designs and it is just fabulous. It is huge too - 121 elements and 25 papers.

I ended up doing three layouts and will probably do more! My BIL took this photo of all the grandkids - it was a surprise for Gramma! J2 was so little, he was pretty hungry and distressed to be held by someone besides me.

Summer Sorbet – so yummy!

Rainamoon Scraps has a fun new kit call Summer Sorbet. I love the fresh color scheme and all the crocheted elements. The patterned papers are awesome too!

I did this layout for the quote challenge – I love this quote! This is the mister’s cousin – we stayed with her family for a week in NY – so awesome! They don’t live there anymore but it was awesome that we were able to go and have a place to stay.

This one was done for the scraplift challenge. I loved the tilted papers so it was a fun layout to lift! Making progress on J2’s album – hooray!

Just Another Day

I got to use a beautiful kit by Jen C. Designs called Just Another Day. This is the spotlight kit for the color challenge over at DSDI. you can either use this kit or just use the palette. This kit has a really unique and lovely color scheme and has days, months and number elements – just perfect for a P365 or P52 in addition to your everyday layouts.

I did this layout for the color challenge and made a lovely layout with J1 and his Great Granny. I did a fun photo treatment that Melly of Melly Scraps introduced me to – you layer two of the same photos on top of each other and then make the top one black and white or sepia and change the opacity – I think I did 70 or 80% because I really wanted to mute the colors. It is a neat technique!

This week I got to use the awesome kit from Scraps by Andrea called Simple Pleasures. I love the colors and the mix of elements was just perfect – there was never anything I wanted that wasn’t available – gotta love that in a kit!

My first layout was done for the template challenge at Stuff to Scrap. Shel Belle Scraps made an awesome template – go check it out! This is my MIL and the boys – just a few weeks after J2 was born.

And I did my 2nd one for the font challenge. It was such a fun font this month. This is J2 working on the mister’s birthday card. it was fun craft day!

DSDI Good Stuff

So in July at DSDI we are having speed scraps every day! The times vary so hopefully everyone can make it to a few.

All times are EDT in case you didn’t see that part. I’m hosting the one on the 7th so make sure to come to that! It is at 3 PST and I’ll be at my dad’s house. The boys and I are ditching the mister at home and heading to visit my sister, nephews, niece, dad and step-mom. Just for a couple of days though. We just got back from the weekend in Bend with my bff and some other families and are leaving again!

Also, the daily download starts on Wednesday the 7th this month – Jewel (the Queen) of Mad Genius Designs is going on vacation and since she is The Queen, the download starts early. :) She teamed up with Karen from Snickerdoodle Designs and the kit looks just awesome.

Rugged Americana and some freebies!

Melly Scraps just released this awesome patriotic kit called Rugged Americana. I absolutely love this kit – the best Fourth of July kit I have seen yet. The colors are perfect and the grungy look of the papers and elements is awesome.

She also has this coordinating alphabet called Stars & Stripes

I am hosting the template challenge over at DSDI this month and I made my layout with Rugged Americana. This was the summer J1 and I flew up to Alaska to see my mom. My sister and her kids and my dad and step mom were in town at the same time so it was like a mini family reunion.

Here is my template – you’ll have to go to the DSDI forum to pick it up though. I have included a .psd file, the individual .pngs and also a .page file which is used in the Creative Memories Storybook Creator Plus software, my digi scrapping software of choice.

Hat’s Off – an awesome graduation kit

Melly Scraps has a fabulous graduation kit out called Hats Off – and just in time as I know you have those graduation pictures just needing to be scrapped! There is a main black and white kit and then eight color add on kits. I used the blue and yellow add-ons to match my high school colors. There is also green, orange, purple, light blue, red and burgundy.

Here is my graduation layout. I also used a template from Melly Scraps’ new set called Templates: Volume 1 – Jamie Inspired.

This is me and my step-brother – graduating together, isn’t that fun? I love all the papers in this kit – the word ones are just awesome! It also comes with the metal word art “graduation” that I used on this page plus a bunch more. I did this for the Alphabet Soup challenge at DSDI.

Here is a layout I did for the progressive challenge over at DSDI. Can’t even tell it is a graduation kit huh? This is J1 up at the cabin when he was about 8 months old.

Summer Surprises by Red Genius Enterprises and the DSDI Daily Download

Red Genius Enterprises has this fun summer kit called Summer Surprises available now. It has great beachy elements and fun, whimsical papers. I love that ladybug too!

I did this layout for the template challenge over at DSDI – isn’t a cool template? For July I am going to be hosting the template challenge so make sure you come and join me. A few years back when J1 was a baby, we were able to swim at a hot springs pool in Haines. It was wonderful – like a big bath!

A few years back, my step-brother and his family came down from Alaska to vacation and J1 and I met them at Seaside for lunch and beach fun. I’m not a big fan of the boys playing in the sand – too messy! They love it though so I just deal.

Baby Mine - Boy

I was lucky enough to get to work with Baby Mine - Boy by Just So Scrappy this month. The colors are so lovely and soft. Just perfect for your new baby boy! And this kit is just huge – there are 217 Elements, 43 Papers and 3 Alphas!

65 Red Roses – a Charity Collab benefiting CF

I was supposed to post about this before and it has been quite a month and I never got around to it. Such a bummer too since this kit is awesome and it is such a worthy cause. The kit is called 65 Red Roses and you can get it at Stuff to Scrap.

This beautiful kit is both Elegant and Fun, Vibrant and Beautiful just like the woman it was made to honor. Eva Markvoort was the subject of a documentary called 65 Red Roses which chronicled her battle with her genetic disease, Cystic Fibrosis. Eva loved the color red and was well known for wearing the vibrant shade in her hair. Every cent of the proceeds from this kit goes to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to keep fighting to find a cure.

This was me and the mister. We ran away and got married on a cruise ship in Hawaii. Well, not really ran away as everyone knew (and was bitter) about the plan. These are pictures taken by the ship’s photographer.

And this is the mister’s parents on their wedding day. I love this picture.

I think the only element I duplicated was that tree (because I love it so!) – and there are many, many more I didn’t use. Please go pick up this lovely kit and support CF at the same time – it is truly a win win!

New Mad Genius Designs and a Daily Download

I have a few layouts using Mad Genius Designs’ kits and forgot to post them! The first one is called Whispered Love – a lovely blue and green kit.

This was done for the ad challenge over at DSDI – I’m not totally in love with the tense of the journaling but I’ll work on it before printing.

And this was another page for my P52 – I’m getting behind again but hopefully soon I’ll catch up. I just started QCing over at MLAS so I’ll be spending more time at that site anyway.

The next kit is called Shine On! and was perfect for some old rafting pictures I had.

Frivolity – a freebie from a fabulous kit (with a great name)!

I got to play with Frivolity by JanetB this week – I was so excited since I have been eyeing it for two months. I made a layout with an add-on back in April which I thought I posted but I can’t find it so I’ll do it now. Anyway, here is the preview – isn’t it fantastic?

My layout of J2’s birthday – we combined his with the mister’s (since they are only 2 days apart) and had a bbq lunch on Memorial Day. I did this for the font challenge over at DSDI. It is a new month so there are all new challenges – go check it out!

I also used a template by JanetB for the birthday layout. The set is called Paper Showoffs and they rock!

Here is the one I made with the add-on kit – J1 back in the day. And yes, the bottle was empty!

Janet was nice enough to let me make a freebie for you so I decided to make some word art. It has been awhile since I made any and I missed it.

Puckered Kiss by Jenasis Designs

Jenasis Designs has a fun new kit out this week called Puckered Kiss. The colors are fun and bright and remind me of summer! I love all the citrus elements and the alpha is really cool. Check it out:

I did my first layout for a speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap and the colors were perfect for J2 in the Children’s Museum water room. I took him one Friday when J1 was at school. J2 loved the water room but kept trying to climb into the tubs. Well, he does love his baths! You can see I left the pink out entirely for this layout so don’t shy away if you don’t have girls!

This is a layout of my most favorite cheesecake – I made it for Easter and it surpassed my old favorite, chocolate chip cheesecake with Oreo crust. You do have to get sweetened condensed coconut milk which I, for some reason, found at Target! I did this for the Stuff to Scrap font challenge.

Week two of our This Scrapper’s Got Talent contest is drawing to a close today. Make sure to check out all of the awesome 2-page layouts this week! I did mine on my 10 most favorite things – not in any particular order (because chocolate would have been first had they been in order – lol!).

Modern Elegance by Scrappin’ Serenity

I was fortunate to get to make some layouts with Scrappin’ Serenity’s new kit Modern Elegance. The colors are lovely and I love all the swirls and sparkle and the girly-ness!

There is also a set of matching cardstock and quick pages.

I have made two layouts so far – this first was for a speed scrap. I loved picking a definition for the journaling - a great idea that I have used again since. I’ve seen definitions in word art but never just made one for myself so that was fun. This is the mister’s granny – she was 97 when she passed away! I am not sure if that is the mister’s dad or his aunt though. It is a cool picture – how many housewives look like that anymore??

Ahhh’s! Ouchies, and Booboos! – a new kit and a freebie

Growing Pains Scrapped has a new kit in the store this week called Ahhh’s! Ouchies & Booboos – it is a great kit and so appropriate for me since J1 had so many medical issues for the first two years of his life.

I actually got three layouts done with this kit – just a few more of J1’s album and then one for a speed scrap.

These are when J1 had to stay overnight in the hospital due to dehydration. We were in the ER for many hours but since he was dehydrated, he was very lethargic so it wasn’t too bad. If he had been feeling well, it would have been a nightmare. Sort of a mixed blessing I guess but since we had to be there, better he wasn’t causing mayhem!

This was his first time needing the nebulizer – he had bronchitis. It turned out to be sort of a blessing since, because of that sickness, we found out he had a thyroglossal duct cyst (thanks D – she noticed it one day at lunch) and were able to start the steps towards getting it removed. He has needed the nebulizer many times since and actually, J2 recently had croup and used it and the mister and I both had some sort of lung problem and we both used it. It is well loved in our house!

The mister and I were in Roseburg (without kids) this weekend enjoying a wine tour so I am a bit behind on scrapping. I have a week left so I’ll be going full force the next couple of days. Friday J2 turns two and the mister’s birthday is Wednesday. He wants lasagna – homemade. I was hoping for the frozen kind but no go! Hooray.

I {heart} Animals A to Z!

Scrapalicious Cereal has a fabulous new kit out called Animals A to Z and I just love it! First off, the kit is just huge - more than 180 elements, 40 papers and an alpha plus a to z brads. There are 26 different animals – one for each letter of the alphabet. And each one comes in 4 different styles - epoxy, crayon drawings, painted wooden elements and transparent stickers and they all are awesome. We all got to vote on what style of animals we preferred on her facebook fan page - and some people got the kit for free - so go become a fan if you aren’t already. Here is the preview:

Lovely colors huh? Here is a close up of just the papers – there are fun patterns plus great textured cardstock.

One of the best thing about things about this kit is that it has every type of element you could ever want – and a good selection of each. I love that. Anyway, here is my first layout – that’s a crayon drawing monkey. I loved using the monkey since the mister was being so goofy – he hates getting his picture taken!

and my 2nd – actual zoo pictures. This is the new Predators of the Serengeti exhibit here at the Oregon Zoo and it is just stunning to see. I used the painted wood version of the lion in this one. And I am just in love with that alpha – it is a bit transparent so some of the background shows through. It doesn’t look like it in my layouts since the background behind both of them is the same color but it is really neat.

Anyway, I highly suggest you pick up this wonderful kit and don’t forget, everything is on sale every day to celebrate Stuff to Scrap’s first birthday so you always get a good deal!

Midnight in the Garden – new kit and freebie!

Growing Pains Scrapped and The Scrappy Kat have a new collab kit out today. Midnight in the Garden was inspired by the book and movie which is about a murder that takes place in Savannah, Georgia. It is a rich, dark, garden-y kit with a southern feel. Check out the previews:

I did a layout with Tracy’s portion only. This is the mister and his buddies at his 40th birthday. We had a big party complete with gambling (for gift cards!) and tons of food and fun. It was really a blast.

Shabby Kitchen by Designs by Christi

Christi is a new designer at Stuff to Scrap and she has a new kit out called Shabby Kitchen. I love all the kitchen elements – and I hope to have some actual cooking pictures to scrap with it soon. J1 and I used to cook something nearly once a week – we did cookies, different breads, pretzels – but now J2 is old enough to want to help but not old enough to actually help. I am hoping we can get back to it fairly soon. Anyway, check out the kit – isn’t the color scheme great? There is also a set of cardstock and a set of quick pages available so you may as well get them all.

My first layout was done for the scraplift challenge – it was a really fun one this month! I loved this hat but it was never the right season for J1 to wear it when it actually fit so I just staged a photo shoot.

And this one I did for the {My Life} challenge – which is the yearly project challenge. Each week you get a prompt that will help you finish your year long project – P365 or P52 or whatever. We took a walk around the block last week and J1 was wanting to pose for pictures – sort of out of character for him so I happily agreed. For some reason the exposure was bad on the close up shot – don’t know why because I definitely didn’t use a flash. Oh well – it’s cute picture anyway. And for anyone who notices and/or cares, that coat was a hand-me-down and I’m not even positive the sport it relates to let alone the team so just deal!

May Flowers are blooming

And Becky Young Designs has a beautiful new kit to match called May Flowers. I love Becky’s designs and this one is no exception. The color scheme is just perfect for spring photos but it also works for anything else as you will see. I love the papers because they have great texture and patterns and I also love all the flowers – such a great variety!

There is also a matching cardstock pack which I also used in my layouts. I love paper cardstock and, I guess not surprisingly, I love digital cardstock as well!

I did this layout for the speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap this morning. Lori of Scraps ‘N Pieces hosted and gave us great instructions – they were quite challenging. And if you want to do it and get the great participation prize – a cute little mini kit - there is still time. She extended the deadline to midnight MST – so hurry over and get a layout done!

And this was done for the recipe challenge – it’s my son and his first friend. See, it works great for these photos too. This was in the baby class we attended weekly. It was fabulous for a new mother to be able to get help from the lady who ran the class – she was a lactation consultant – and the other moms who had babies around the same age. I didn’t form any long term friendships because the hospital was about 25 minutes away but it was still helpful.

Tractor Trouble by SAHM Scrapper

SAHM Scrapper has a great new kit this week called Tractor Trouble. I was very excited to get my hands on this kit since I have endless pictures of J1 on tractors – he loves them! The colors are just perfect for all the tractor pictures I have too – I think tractors only come in these colors!

My favorite things in this kit are the circles with stars and the mud splats. There are great ribbons and buttons plus an awesome arrow too!

There is also an add-on and quick page set. A little birdie told me if you check out SAHM Scrapper’s blog there might be some gifties and maybe a coupon related to this kit!

My first layout was done for a speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap that included selective coloring – that made it a bit more of a challenge to get done on time. At least you have an extra hour after the instructions to complete your layout. I love doing selective coloring but it is a bit time consuming. There is probably a better way to do it but the way I do it works and I only have to Google the instructions about every other time. :) Maybe if I used PSE more often I would remember. The is J1 at the Baker County Fair last summer when we were visiting the mister’s family. There was a huge row of tractors on display and he had to ride and drive each one. Good pictures though.

I did this one for the template challenge as Stuff to Scrap this month – you get a great template from Growing Pains Scrapped and then get to see how each person starts at the same place and ends up somewhere so different.

Digi Scraps Drive-In happenings

For iNSD we had a scrap-a-thon over at DSDI and I got 10 layouts done. Many of them were for J1’s album – I should be done with his first year soon. I even printed everything I had done last Tuesday – Persnickety Prints had a 25% off sale so I jumped on that.

Also, in the midst of all the sites being down, DSDI is still up so come check us out while waiting for the other sites to come back up. Hopefully that will be soon because it is hard for everyone when sites are down. If you were wondering what is going on check out this thread at Digi Shop Talk. Sounds like a nightmare.

I did this layout for the regular recipe challenge for April using the same kit. That mat is actually a journaling strip but I was supposed to mat my photo with something not generally used for a mat.

New kit “Grace” and a QP freebie

Growing Pains Scrapped has a new kit out today called Grace. It is a lovely pink and brown kit with some nice felt elements, some great crocheted flowers and fabulous papers along with the traditional flowers and ribbons.

Here are my layouts. This is my niece GG a few years back. We were up at Mt. Hood going down the alpine slide – you get to ride up the ski lifts and ride a go cart type thing – a total blast. Can’t wait until the boys are old enough to go. Actually J1 could ride with me and go down right now – something to think about for this summer.

This is a really old pic of me and my sister. I don’t have many girl pictures so sometimes I recycle! Plus I just love this picture so I like using it.

iNSD Celebration at Digi Scrap Drive In

It is going to be a fabulous weekend over at DSDI! I can’t wait and the mister will be gone for most of Sunday riding his motorcycle so I can be a bad mommy and plop the boys down in front of the TV and scrap! :) Check it out!

Growing Pains Scrapped has a new kit called Halcyon Days and each piece will be free on her blog for 24 hours so hurry over and pick it up! For those not in the know, halcyon means calm; peaceful; tranquil – what a great name for this kit since the colors are very spa-like.

I made two layouts – this one for a speed scrap over at Stuff to Scrap last week. This is J1 enjoying making bubbles – he is holding the wand out and spinning. He is bad at actually blowing bubbles because he basically ends up eating the bubble juice. I don’t know why he feels he needs to hold the wand that close to his mouth but he does so spinning works better!

This is my sister. I am pretty sure she was on one of her fabulous vacations in this picture but I don’t know where. And she is a blonde so it does run in our family somewhere.

Fruit of the Spirit and QP Freebie!

Jane from Little Red Scraps has a new kit out called Fruit of the Spirit and it is great fun! The colors are wonderful and there are lovely religious and non-religious elements. I really love the tree and that cute bird! And the best part is it is on sale for 25% off and you get the cardstocks for free – just for the first week though so hurry up!

I did two layouts with this in addition to the quick page I made. This first one is J1 at the park in Wrangell when we were there for the Fourth of July a few years ago. I got a lot of great shots that day! This was also a layout for the Cover Tunes challenge at DSDI – that is a scraplift challenge.

This one is also for a challenge at DSDI – the Made in the Shade challenge which is a template challenge. This is J1 down at the park by our house. He was famous for this kind of sliding and had no fear! There is that tree and the bird. I recolored those hearts so they are not blue in the kit (they are red) but blue just worked better in my layout!

Renew by Mad Genius Designs and Daybreak Scraps

I finally got my hands on the fabulous kit Renew by Mad Genius Designs and Daybreak Scraps. I have been eyeing this one for awhile now so I am pleased to have it. Don’t you love it? I love these girly kits but have to struggle coming up with layouts since I have two boys. At least it gave me something to do one of my P52 projects with.

This was week 9 of my P52 – My Life in Scrap. I am behind and actually skipped week 8 so I could use this kit. But I’ll get caught up eventually! The pictures in this layout were altered using Jane's Lomo technique - from the Killer Threads Challenge over at Digi Scraps Drive In. If you don't know what Lomo is, and honestly I'd be pretty impressed if you did, go check it out because it is really cool. You can see a close up of the before and after on my photos too.

I did this for a speed scrap over at DSDI. Another page for J1’s book. Can’t wait to finish year one and either start year 2 or do J2’s year one. Just haven’t decided. Do I do both their first years so J2 doesn’t need therapy someday or get J1’s year 2 done and then I will be equally behind on both of them. And honestly, does it matter enough for me to have written an entire paragraph about it? lol Anyway… speed scrap. The next one at DSDI is tonight at 6pm PST. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make it to that one since my bff and her mom are coming over for dinner. Taco night! Oh, must pick up some more fat free half and half for cocktails – yummy.

Here are my layouts. I did this for the recipe challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. Tammy of Mommy Me Time Scrapper was stretching our skills with 10 papers this month – hard but fun! And, luckily, plenty to chose from in this kit. This is my mom as a tween and maybe mid to late twenties.

I did this for the quote challenge – such a lovely quote and I’m always happy to make a layout with me and my bff. This is a pretty old picture – from the early days of our almost 11 year friendship.

Growing Pains Scrapped has a new collab kit with Digi-Designs by Nicole. It is a fabulous baby kit but with slightly different colors, making it work for other layouts as well. Here are my two layouts. Don’t these colors work perfect with this kit? Another page for J1’s album – probably more than half done now – hooray! Radium Hot Springs was closed to the public long before I started going to Haines but the mister's aunt knew the owners and went nearly everyday. We got to go with her when J1 was about 7 1/2 months. It was like swimming in a huge bathtub - heavenly! It is closed to everyone now so J2 will never get to enjoy it. That is a huge shame because he loves the water whereas J1 just tolerates it. He liked the pool pretty well back then though.

I did this for the theme challenge over at Stuff to Scrap. This picture was taken within the first 10 or 15 minutes after he was born. Dig the oxygen mask? Apparently my heart rate dropped or something – it was all a blur to me – I just don’t remember what happened at the end there. Nothing tragic though so that is good!

I made my quick page from this layout since the other is 8 1/2 x 11. I am not opposed to making some that size – let me know if there is any desire for that.

New Boys Kit and Word Art Freebie

I love this kit -the colors work well together and seem to match so many of the boys' clothes. I also love the cars and airplanes - things that seem to be on my floor constantly! Here is my layout - don't you love that string frame? So cool. This is J1 eating rice - one of his staple carbs. Well, it used to be anyway, we have moved on to "noodles, no soup" which means he doesn't want Campbell's chicken noodle anymore, just noodles with butter. Ugh! Well, he never at the chicken or the carrots anyway so I guess this is cheaper, just not as easy.

Another Mad Genius Designs Sale and a photo mask freebie!!

Jewel of Mad Genius Designs has announced her awesome week 2 birthday sale - a Build-Your-Own CU Grab Bag! I love a build-your-own grab bag of any kind but a CU one is especially great. Not everyone has the same taste and desires so it is the perfect way to get exactly what you want. I am loving the Edges the most, and there are 2 sets so I just have to decide on one more thing to complete my order - I'm thinking the Heart Scatters!

Also, in conjunction with the Altered Art challenge this month at Digi Scraps Drive In, I made my first ever photo mask. I'll need to work on my technique because the spatter disappeared when I clipped my photo to it but it is still cool! The image looks funky on 4shared but it looks fine after downloading.

I'll be back later with a new kit from A+ Designs - a boy kit if you can believe it!! It is super cute although Mel claims she will have to make 10 girl kits to recover.

Spring Day by IvoryKeys Digital Dreams

I had the privilege of working with a brand new designer – IvoryKeys Digital Dreams. The kit is called Spring Day and I love it! As always, I’m crazy about the papers and there are some great flowers and ribbons. The color scheme is fabulous too and I really love the stitches and the glitter swirls. Make sure you check out her blog as well.

I did this layout last week for the April Fool’s Day speed scrap. Nicole only gave us one bogus instruction – 10 staples around a circle. It was funny how many people actually liked it and left the staples on their layouts! The string with beads is one of my favorite elements from this kit. This was J1’s first Easter over at Gramma’s. He hadn’t become contrary enough yet to make faces at the camera instead of smiling naturally. Oh I miss those days!

I did this for the scraplift challenge. The layouts chosen for this challenge are always so beautiful and this month was no exception. A new month is always so exciting because of all the new challenges posted! This is another layout for J1’s first year book – I am really making progress which is exciting. I’ll have some journaling to do and then I think I’ll be ready to print some more.

My next Stuff to Scrap designer is Just For You Digi Scraps and I will be using her kit Darling Dots & Damask.

Bunny Trail Freebie Brag Book Pages

Manda’s Scrappin’ Creations has a fabulous new kit called Bunny Trail – an Easter kit of course! The colors are wonderful – bright pastels but not at all obnoxious – just perfect. Check it out – the image is linked to her shop at ESS but it is also available at Fairy Tale Scraps.

I used this kit for the speed scrap at Stuff to Scrap last night and this is what I came up with. This is my niece GG and her dad, my brother-in-law.

I have to say, I really like these blocked template layouts – they just add a lot of interest and are a great place to showcase elements and a bunch of different papers.

A Moorland Morning by Seal Scraps

The color scheme of A Moorland Morning by Seal Scraps caught my eye the first time I saw it and it has been on my wish list ever since. Well I finally got it and made some fun layouts – I especially love the brown paper with the scroll work on the side and the bird and the butterfly. There are also some great metal swirls which I am always a sucker for!

My first layout was done for the Word of the Week challenge at Stuff to Scrap and I used mostly the purple parts of the kit and check out that metal swirl – just awesome! This was my MIL’s birthday which sometimes coincides with Easter which is why you can see Easter decorations. I made the cake with my fancy daisy pan – it holds a regular cake recipe and when you turn it out, there are daisies on the cake – super cute. Not too great for frosting though so that is a problem! Oh well, the powered sugar was good too.

This was some pictures I took of J1 – he collected 3 worms on a walk and wanted to put them in our raised bed garden to live. He said there was a Daddy, a Mommy and a son. Poor J2!! I did this for the quote challenge at Stuff to Scrap and focused on the brown in the kit. It was fun create completely different looks with just one great kit!

Come back soon as I will have some more kit highlights from A+ Designs and Mad Genius Designs too. I imagine Tracy from Growing Pains Scrapped will have a new kit as well. I also got to work with the April Build a Kit from Stuff to Scrap so I’ll be posting about those soon. You will love the color palette – it is great! I am desperately trying to get caught up on my P52 – I am officially 6 weeks behind but I have done lots of legwork for those weeks and just need a bit of time to actually make the layouts. Apple Blossom Time & QP Freebie

Apple Blossom Time is a lovely new kit by Little Red Scraps. I used this kit the other night to do a speed scrap over at Digi Scraps Drive-In, one of my favorite sites! Check out the kit – I love the colors and, as usual, Jane's elements are wonderful!

I have been meaning to post about some of the great new kits Mel of A+ Designs has been making and time just seems to go by! Anyway, there have been so many great ones and I just don’t know where to start. I guess I’ll highlight the ones from March and my favorite February kit and then make another post about February’s releases. I’ll try to keep up better from here on out!

Welcome Spring

And I am so in the mood for spring! Here in the Pacific NW we are going back and forth from rainy and gloomy to clear skies and a bit of sun – it is hard to keep up with. Since I am so ready for Spring to come and stay I was happy to use this cute new kit Welcome Spring by Designs by Ashlee. The colors are so fun and all the elements are really great. I especially love the birds and trees – anyone who knows me isn’t surprised about the trees – I have a thing for leaves which apparently carries over into trees.

I made a couple of layouts that I just love. This is J2 one day last Spring – what you can’t see in the black and white is his face covered in strawberry juice – just the beginning of his love affair with fruit. I did this for a speed scrap this weekend at Stuff to Scrap. I love these colors with the black and white photo.

This is J1 back in the day – Gramma got this awesome photo! I love this picture, with his serious, deep look, and the song this month in the STS song lyric challenge seemed perfect for it. One thing I really like about these two layouts is that I used a bit of pink on both but they still seem boy-ish – gotta like that!

A fabulous girly kit – Guinevere’s Beauty

I have been coveting this kit, Guinevere’s Beauty by Scraps of Ellay, for months but never had a good reason to buy it - it is pretty girly and I have my two sweet boys. I know that *I* am a girl but I don’t scrap many photos of myself plus I am trying to finish the boys’ first year books. Well, I decided to get it anyway and use it to do some of the challenges at Stuff to Scrap and something for my P52. Isn’t it lovely? The colors are fab and, as always, LA's elements are beautiful and unique. I especially love the papers with sparkle and the ones with flowers - neither of which works well for the boys but I need to get pretty kits sometimes darn it!

And there is this wonderful add on kit that is a must have - I have this on my wish list too as I hate to not have all parts of a particular kit - lucky for the designers - lol.

My first layout was for the Word of the Week challenge at Stuff to Scrap – the word was Treasure. I did a layout about my birthdays (fairly non-exciting with a few bright spots) and my hopes for the boys’ birthdays (also low key but with traditions that they will hopefully remember and appreciate like I remember and appreciate the tradition of picking my cake and dinner).

This one was done for the Theme Challenge at Stuff to Scrap– the theme is Romantic Comedies – you should see the beautiful and creative ideas people have come up with! I love all these girl movies even though the mister can't stand them. He loves westerns which I can't stand so luckily we have more than one tv and lots of tolerance. :)

Next up will be one of the new designers at Stuff to Scrap - Designs by Ashlee. Since she is just getting started, it is either a spring kit or a green froggy kit - I haven't decided yet as they are both really cute. Jane of Little Red Scraps also has a new kit coming and it is just lovely. Hopefully I'll have time to get some stuff done with that kit as well.

ATTN: Manda’s Scrappin’ Creations Fans (and that’s everyone right??)

I have been a bad blogger for the last month and, honestly, I don’t expect to get better for at least another month but I’ll try to sneak some in here and there. Manda’s Scrappin’ Creations has had a couple new kits and she now has some CU templates in her Enchanted Studio Scraps store. Also, Manda is trying to get more facebook fans – head over and become a fan!

This kit, Cookie Monsters, came out last month but it is wonderful – the colors are perfect for all my boy pictures!

A Passion for Paisley

The first kit I got to work with this month was A Passion for Paisley by Scraps ‘n Pieces – and I couldn’t be happier. I have been eyeing this kit since it came out and I am so pleased to have it. I love this shade of green and paired with the black – just fabulous!! Check it out:

Aren’t the colors lovely? The papers are so awesome – a great mix of patterns and slightly grungy solids - and I have to say, the wire and flower element is just awesome! And the very best thing about this kit?? It will be in the $2 Tuesday bin tomorrow – make sure you go pick it up!! These colors match so many of my boys’ clothes that I think I’ll be using it a lot. Also, if you are a fan of Scraps 'n Pieces (and of course you are!) head over to Facebook and become a fan right now! If they make it to 200 fans by the end of March, we all get a free kit - and we all love a free kit right??

I am still working on my 2010 goal of getting J1’s first year album done – he hasn’t been 4 for that long! I need to get 5 – 6 more done before the end of the month because I have another coupon for Persnickety Prints and it expires 3/31. If I have at least 10, the price is comparable to Costco and I like the prints better. Plus I am hoping to get caught back up on my P52 – some good layouts to come for that one. Anyway, I digress. Here are a couple layouts that I also combined with the fun challenges over in the Stuff to Scrap forums. This one I did for the speed scrap last week – I love seeing how everyone interprets the instructions! Come join us – the next one is scheduled for the 11th – check out the schedule here.

I did this layout for the scraplift challenge – it also uses a template by one of our new designers Designs by Sweet Mesquite. If you have never done any scraplifting, you should really give it a try. I was hesitant because I figured my layout would be so close to the original that it wasn’t really my work. It is actually great though because it is another way to stretch your scrapping muscles and try new things. I frequently mark layouts in the gallery as “favorites” so I can scraplift them later! These are just some random pics of J1 when he was, well, three months old. I love the picture of me and him walking – I don’t have many pictures of myself with him.

Catching up on my P52 layouts at My Life and Scrap

Well, I was a bit behind but I am all caught up now. And I am reposting my Embarrassing layout because I have heard that it wasn’t legible in the other post.

First off I did a cover page. I got a coupon from Scraps ‘n Pieces for printing at Persnickity Prints and since the prices were better than Costco with the coupon and there was free shipping, I ordered all of the pages of J1’s book that I had completed and 8 x 8 prints of my P52 layouts. I was a bit nervous since I hadn’t heard anything about Persnickity but I have to say, the prints were so awesome. The paper was really thick and wonderful and the layouts looked great. I will definitely order from there again. So anyway, since I printed some of my P52 layouts and put them in an album I decided I needed a cover page. Below the title I have some biographical info so it won’t look so empty in my actual album.

Here is my Embarrassment layout again for those interested in actually reading what I wrote. :)

Next we had to write about where we grew up:

And then my job - the prompt was "what do you tell people when they ask you about your job" and I always say my profession rather than say "a mom" so that's what I wrote about.

And next was the things we like about ourselves. For this one, I sat down and wrote out everything I could come up with and then did the layout. They are random things but I do appreciate all of them. You should try it sometime - it is nice to focus on the positive things about yourself, even if some of them are silly.

Next we have to write about our most memorable birthday. This one is hard for me because I just don’t remember anything super remarkable about any. I mentioned it to the mister and he was a bit offended since he set up a nice surprise at a fancy renovated hotel in Eastern Oregon one year and he also mentioned my 30th birthday which my mom and sister made special. And both of those were great so I don’t know why I didn’t think of either. All I could think of was that I never had a surprise party, no one threw me a fancy sweet 16, I never had a huge bowling party or anything like that – all the things I *think* would make a birthday memorable. I guess I need to rethink my fantasy criteria and focus on real life so stay tuned for that. Oh and D - if you did something fabulous for me that I am not remembering - don't be offended - apparently I have a mental block!

Meant to Be – a fun and funky love kit!

Look at this fabulous kit from The Scrappy Kat. It is called Meant To Be and I just love it! Pink and black is one of my favorite color combinations and throw in the lime and blue and I’m a happy girl! And the birds and robots are just the cutest too. I will be making more pages with this kit because there are fabulous frames, string and doodles I haven’t used yet! This was also a collab with Scraps by Andrea so make sure you pick up both parts! I still need to get Andrea’s part – can’t wait!

Here is my first layout – I did this for the desktop challenge in the Stuff to Scrap forums – plus it is on my computer so I get to admire it all month! I always have to make my own desktop since my monitors are 1440 x 900 and you don’t find many of those as freebies.

My second layout was done for the Random Challenge – the task this month was to do a layout highlighting something we are geeky about. Mine is Buffy the Vampire Slayer which I have loved since it came on the air. Don't knock it until you have seen it!

And the Designer Darling contest is in the final week now and the assignment is to make a full kit, the designer-hopeful picks the theme and colors. There will be many free full-kit downloads so make sure you are signed up for the forums so you can get them. There are a few done already and they are so great!

First Crush – such an awesome kit!!

I totally love this kit from Scraps of Ellay called (of course) First Crush! The colors are so fun and you’ve just gotta see all the great papers – they will blow you away. Remember all the funny things we used to write in our pee chees in junior high (or maybe high school)? TLF, TLA, I {heart} (insert random name here) – you get the idea – they are all in this kit. And for those I went to school with, I still have some of the slam books we made over at Kodiak Junior High so beware! Oh, and there are sparkles in the kit – my favorite – and metal – a new favorite. So go pick it up in the store and check out the matching cardstock and glitter while you are there.

Here are some layouts I did with it. This is from the day J1 started crawling, exactly 7 months after he was born! Everyone said he would be 8 or 9 months before he was crawling but no such luck. The main reason I would have been happy if it had been later was because we were headed for the mister’s cousin’s ranch and it was not at all baby proofed. Oh well, it all worked out pretty well in the end – or at least that is how my mommy memory remembers it. :)

And just some fun shots of him playing and bathing. I loved that table and I am now passing it on and it makes me a bit sad since both my boys loved it too. But at least I am giving it to my friend so maybe I can visit it again. :)

Oh, don’t forget, there are many, many great challenges going on this month over at Stuff to Scrap so be sure to go check them out in the forum. I think my favorite one this month is the Random Challenge where we are all going to admit our Geeky sides – that is, do a page about something you are crazy passionate about. It may be a TV show, a TV or movie genre, a video game, a book series, the possibilities are endless. I know what I should do my layout on, I am just trying to decide if I am brave enough to confess! Here’s a hint: it is about vampires but has nothing to do with Twilight (although if I am being honest, that one runs a close second).

My Life

There is a challenge going on in the Stuff to Scrap forums called {My Life} with the aim to help you complete your yearly project (P365, P52, Monthly Roundup, etc) - the goal of these projects is to capture your daily life, not just the big moments. With that challenge in mind, Scraps ‘n Pieces made this lovely kit called (not surprisingly) My Life. It was a collab with Nibbles Skribbles and you need to pick up both kits because they are awesome. If you head to Scraps ‘n Pieces blog right now you can get a coupon that is good on both kits plus some CT Freebies. The coupon is good until the end of the month but I don’t know how long the freebies will be up so you’d better hurry!

I did two layouts – both for challenges. The first one was done for the font challenge. Although My Life doesn’t look like a Fourth of July kit, it actually worked perfectly. There are so many great papers and elements, it can work for many different layouts. This is another two page layout for J1’s book. I am making progress – this is obviously July but I did skip 2 or 3 2-page layouts earlier in the year since I would like the pictures and the kits to actually work together! I love this picture of J1 checking out the grass – shows his “Mr. Serious” side which was such a big part of his personality back then.

This one was done for the template challenge. It is a great template and available for download in the forums. It was hard for me – making these pictures so small. I always want to show off my boys but it is good to try scrapping outside my norm – I think it makes me a better scrapper and keeps my pages interesting. Well, that’s my story anyway. And I so love this cream paper with blue flowers – so lovely!

Aren’t the papers awesome – nothing sells me on a kit more than paper! That is probably why I have 18 tons of paper for traditional scrapping in my craft room now that I think about it. At least digital papers don’t take up any physical space.
