Winter Berries - a fabulous new kit by Little Red Scraps

My “assignment” this week was to make some pages with Winter Berries by Little Red Scraps – don’t you just love that kind of job??  This kit rocks! The colors are so great (red has been my favorite color for as long as I can remember) and there are tons of sparkly elements - a favorite of mine lately.  Look at how fabulous it is:

LRS%20WinterBerries%20Preview

Right now Jane, the illustrious designer behind Little Red Scraps, has a freebie add-on for this kit on her blog - head there and pick it up after you buy the kit! She promises another add-on in the Stuff to Scrap newsletter so if you aren't already signed up, get on it - all you have to do is enter your email in the box on the upper right side of the Stuff to Scrap blog.

Here are my layouts. The first one is my boys with the amazing Macy's Santa last Christmas.  Neither of my boys are afraid of Santa which is the best.  I first went to Macy’s with my paper scrapping friends Laura and Paula.  They have this scheme where they hit the store around 4 or 4:30 on a week night and there is literally no wait time!  I don’t know how they discovered this but I am grateful they let me in on the secret.  The photographer always end up taking many, many pictures of my boys because they are so calm and enthralled with Santa and you can buy the whole disk for around $40 which isn’t bad to have all the shots and have the right to print them yourself.

Winter Berries #1

I did the Santa layout for one of the daily challenges we had in the forum this month to celebrate {Inter}National Scrapbook Day - there's only two left so make sure to check them out. All the normal monthly challenges are still there too so go get in on the fun!

Here is my other one – it  is just some silly pictures I took before Christmas last year - mostly because I thought the socks were so cute. I just love the elements and the alpha and check out that snowflake border – it is lovely!

STS Template Challenge Nov

I am going to attempt to post a bunch of layouts again this week.  I need to clear some space on my hard drive.  The darn thing is 150 gig and there is only 13 gig left!  I regularly take off my zipped kits after installing them and backing them up to disk but I guess I need to do the same with my layouts to make room for buying more kits.  :)

Walking in a Wonder Winterland

Isn’t that how the song goes? Well, maybe not quite but the spirit is there nonetheless! Wonder Winterland is the new kit by Red Genius Enterprises that I got to play with this week. Red Genius Enterprises teams up the fabulous Mad Genius Designs with the equally fabulous Little Red Scraps (and I'll have a kit from her in a few days!) – how can you go wrong?? Here is the preview – isn’t it beautiful?? I love all the papers – they are so unique – and the all the sparkles! This kit is perfect for all your snowy layouts and comes with two awesome alphas.

Here is my “snowy” layout. I took this during one of our fairly rare snow falls here in the great Pacific Northwest. J1 was so excited to be out there – for about five minutes anyway! And anyone who knows me knows I wasn’t willing to hang out in the snow! I made this layout for the scraplift challenge over in the Stuff to Scrap forums – scraplifts are hard for me but it helps me stretch!

Just so you don’t limit yourself, this kit works for other layouts as well. Check out the fabulous Christmas cookies (well, there were some Christmas-y cookies in there somewhere) he made. He really had a blast making these cookies and I was only a bit horrified by the huge mess! And of course I really wanted him to make all Christmas cookies but my sister gave me a huge bag of cookie cutters and he saw them so… what are you going to do? This layout was also done for a challenge – the November font challenge. I love the font challenges because they introduce me to new fonts and I just can’t get enough fonts!

Make sure to pick this kit up fast. It is on sale right now 25% off as part of the Holiday/Seasonal Products sale through November 26th!

I really should be in bed – the mister and I are going to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert tomorrow afternoon. My MIL is coming to watch the boys so we can go! This is at least the 3rd time, if not the 4th, that we have gone. I generally don’t enjoy going to concerts but they put on such a unique show that it really is great. We have great seats too – row 10 on the floor. That is practically on top of the stage! Even if you don't think you have heard them, you probably have. Check this out and see:

So on that note, off to bed I go!

Freebie Kit "Girlfriends" by Growing Pains Scrapped

Sorry this post is so late but I just got back from watching New Moon. I got to the theater at about 7:15 for an 8:30 showing, knowing it would be crazy. Holy cow - I had to park 2 blocks away and then fight my way through what seemed like millions of people to get to my theater. There were people lined up everywhere for the midnight showings - already - at 7 pm. And actually, who knows what time they showed up as there were chairs, blankets, coolers - the whole bit. Wow. I like the series and am pleased I got to see it early but I would never do that! Anyway...

Tracy at Growing Pains Scrapped has a new kit that she is offering as a freebie this week. This kit is so cute - I love the colors but it is a bit of a struggle for me to find the right pictures for girly kits since I have two boys. Just makes me stretch my creativity a bit!

My first layout was good though since it was for Mother's Day - every Mother's Day layout needs pink!!

This is just a group of cute pictures of J2 - he is always so happy!

Head over to her blog and pick up the papers today, elements on Saturday, 1 alpha Sunday and another on Monday and then quick pages from everyone on Tuesday. See you here then!

Template Challenge at Stuff to Scrap

It's my day to host the daily challenge over at Stuff to Scrap and I created a template for the challenge. I used a paper scrapping layout I did to create the template. Check it out:

Here is the template - there is a layered .psd file and individual .png files for those with other programs.

Pretty Cozy - my fun this week!

This week I got to make some layouts with Pretty Cozy by Mad Genius Designs. I love this kit -the colors rock and it has many sparkly elements, which are so fabulous! I actually made both my layouts with boys so don't let the pink and purple make you think girly. You should also check out her blog for a contest and more inspiration - and if you hurry, a quickpage made with this kit. If you miss it, there is a pack of 6 12 x 12 quickpages, along with many other great kits, in the store over at Stuff to Scrap.

On to my layouts. This is the mister in NYC. We went there in 2004 about a year after we got married. I met his cousin at our reception and she was living there and offered us a place to stay if we wanted to visit. I had wanted to go to NY since early high school so I practically booked our tickets that night! It was so great - they had a beautiful place in the upper east side of Manhattan with doormen and everything. It was way nicer than Friends! They showed us around a bit the first day and got us familar with the subway system and then we were basically on our own - so great! Anyway, they were just blocks from Central Park and we went a few times. I am sure we only saw about 1/100th of the place but it was still fab!

This is the boys after eating a bunch of berries (blackberries and raspberries I think) from the farmer's market. That place is great for fruit and has the best playground. J1 likes to go for the kettle corn and the play structure. He will eat his weight in berries as we shop too.

A new beautiful called Harvest Home

Janice over at JW-DigiScraps has a new kit called Harvest Home that I got to play with this week. The colors are so beautiful - I love them! The papers are so nice and the elements are great for your Thanksgiving and fall pictures but also for your everyday layouts.

But if you are wanting the kit, I would say definitely get the bundle - it has the full kit shown above plus cardstock, worn cardstock, a full alpha, word art, a Thanksgiving add-on and a Halloween add-on. Such a great deal and the cardstock can't be missed!

My first layout was made with just the full kit. I love the tree and the stitches are so cool!

This is a non-fall/Thanksgiving page made with the full kit plus a piece of the cardstock.

I made this desktop using the cardstock, the Thanksgiving add-on and the word art. If you like it, you can get it free at Janice's blog. There are 3 sizes - 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, and 1440 x 900 which is shown here:
